KAMBO

  • Kambo is a powerful, sacred medicine of the Amazon, derived from the Phyllomedusa bicolor, also known as the Giant Monkey Tree Frog. For generations, Indigenous tribes such as the Matsés, Katukina, and Yawanawá have worked with Kambo as part of their traditional practices, valued for its ability to support physical resilience, sharpen awareness, and strengthen connection to the natural world. Traditionally used before hunts, Kambo was applied to help clear the body, heighten the senses, and release what may create imbalance—physically, emotionally, and energetically.

Today, Kambo continues to be respected as a practice rooted in the Amazon Rainforest, offering a unique approach for those seeking greater clarity, alignment, and overall well-being.

  • Kambo is often experienced as a powerful reset that clears the body on both a physical and energetic level. Its natural peptides interact with the body in unique ways, encouraging detoxification, strengthening resilience, and opening space for renewed energy and balance. While every ceremony is personal and unfolds in its own way, clients commonly report benefits such as:

    • Elevated energy and emotional balance, along with greater mental clarity

    • Emotional release, helping to clear heaviness, trauma, or stagnant energy

Relief from stress, anxiety, PTSD, or depression, offering the mind and body a reset

    • Reduction of pain and inflammation, easing physical tension and discomfort

    • Improved immune function and detoxification, strengthening the body’s natural defenses

    • Spiritual alignment, deepening purpose, releasing energetic attachments, and enhancing connection to the higher self and universe

And many more, as Kambo continues to reveal its healing potential in expansive and transformative ways!

  • How the Medicine Works Within You

Kambo is applied to small points on the skin, called “gates,” created by making light burns with the tip of a natural incense stick or vine. These openings allow the medicine to enter the lymphatic system (the body’s cleansing and defense network), where its unique peptides are quickly absorbed. Acting as the body’s natural messengers, these peptides support balance, communication, and repair, working in harmony with the body to encourage cleansing, renewal, and alignment. Many are so unique they cannot be found anywhere else in nature — a rare gift of this sacred medicine.

Here are the key peptides that have been discovered in Kambo so far:

    • Phyllocaerulein — Supports digestion, pain relief, and cleansing.

    • Phyllokinin — Improves circulation and lowers blood pressure.

    • Phyllomedusin — Stimulates digestion and aids detoxification.

    • Dermorphin & Deltorphins — Potent natural pain relievers, estimated to be many times stronger than morphine.

    • Dermaseptins & Tryptophyllins — Strong antimicrobial effects that support immune defense.

Together, these peptides create a natural reset—helping the body release toxins, restore balance, and open space for greater clarity and well-being. They are the foundation behind the benefits of Kambo.

  • A Kambo ceremony is more than just the application of medicine — it is a sacred space for cleansing, release, and renewal. Each ceremony invites you to pause from the outside world, connect inward, and allow the medicine to support your body, mind, and spirit. Visit our Ceremony page for more details.

  • At Kambo Haven, the medicine begins its journey with respect. No frogs are ever harmed, our Kambo is sourced through the International Association of Kambo Practitioners (IAKP) in ethical partnership with the Matsés tribe of Peru. This collaboration protects the sacred traditions of the Indigenous people while ensuring the medicine is gathered with care for both the frog and the forest. We know that how Kambo is received shapes the energy it carries — which is why we only serve medicine collected with compassion and integrity.
